The apparatus of the present disclosure facilitates optimal feedback cancellation. A first transducer receives an audio input signal from the external environment and an acoustic feedback signal from a second transducer. The first transducer is configured to convert the audio input signal and the acoustic feedback signal into a resultant analog signal. The resultant analog signal is converted into a resultant digital signal using an analog to digital converter. A feedback cancellation unit is configured to adaptively model the acoustic feedback to generate an estimated feedback signal. A first subtractor is configured to receive the resultant digital signal and the estimated feedback signal to provide a noise attenuated signal.
