Abstract:
The present research work focuses on the quantification of microplastics in Sabarmati river sediments (Gujarat, India). Sediment samples were collected from four different locations along the stretch of the Sabarmati River. Gravimetric analysis was done to quantify microplastics in making and SEM analysis to comprehend the morphology of different microplastics. Furthermore, the study was extended to understand the microplastic pollution dynamics in the sediments and its relation with sediment texture, grain size, and organic matter. The highest quantity of microplastic was found to be 134.53 mg/kg (75212 ?m) and 581.706 mg/kg (2124 mm) dry weight of sediment. From the study, it was observed that there is an increase in microplastic quantity from upstream to downstream of the city (Ahmedabad).
