dc.description.abstract In last few years, smart grid research has undergone tremendous advancements. Renewable energy sources (RES) are playing an important role in achieving green energy. Economic emission dispatches and voltage controls are two major areas of research in this field. Various approaches are found in optimising economic dispatches and controlling voltage profiles which improve the delivering capacity and quality of power. The application of novel hybrid computational techniques and advanced system modelling approaches have been observed in grid connected power networks. This Special Issue Section of ‘Selected Extended Papers from The Michael Faraday IET International Summit—2020 Kolkata’ presents two interesting research articles in the field of optimisation techniques for economic load dispatch and the advancement in voltage control technique.
