The present disclosure provides photochromic compounds and a process of their synthesis. The photochromic compounds of the present disclosure is useful for detecting of nitric oxide (NO).The process of the synthesis of the photochromic compounds is simple, efficient and selective. The photochromic compounds obtained by the process of the present disclosure have comparatively better yield and high purity.
