Abstract
The present disclosure relates to and envisages a system (1000) for monitoring hand and finger movements. The system (1000) comprises a hand glove (150) having a plurality of FBG-based flexure sensing units (100) provided at predetermined locations on the hand glove (150), each sensing unit (100) configured to sense the change in its Bragg wavelength when angularly displaced due to hand or finger movements and generate a sensed signal. An FBG-based interrogator (200) is connected to the sensing units (100) to determine the Bragg wavelength shift value corresponding to the FBG sensor (105) of each sensing unit (100). A controller (300) connected to the FBG interrogator (200), receives the wavelength shift values corresponding to each sensing units (100) and converts them into corresponding rotation angles of finger joints to monitor hand and finger movements based on the rotation angles.
