The present disclosure relates to fluorescent styryl compounds of Formula I and a process for its preparation. The fluorescent styryl compound of the present disclosure is used as a probe with a di-stilbene scaffold for imaging lipid droplets in animal cells and tissues. The probes stain lipid droplets with an excellent average Pearson correlation coefficient of 0.93 in COS-7 cell line and = 0.75 in all the tissues. Moreover, the probes of the present disclosure provide differentiation in the tissues of the small intestine, liver, and adipose from diseased and the normal one. The process for the preparation of fluorescent styryl compound is simple and efficient.
