The present disclosure relates to an anode material for Li-ion batteries and a process for preparing an anode material. The anode material of the present disclosure has improved charge-storage capacity, transport properties, and electrochemical kinetics. The anode material of the present disclosure has improved power-density and cycle life (stability) of energy storage devices, including Li-ion battery. The anode material of the present disclosure provides pseudo-capacitive charge storage mechanism that would provide a promising construct for supercapacitor applications, Li-S batteries, Na-ion batteries, and metal-ion batteries, and the like. The process for preparing the anode material is eco-friendly and scalable, and utilized the inexpensive raw material.
