Abstract
An analytical model is used to predict the eddy current loss in magnets of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with a fractional number of slots per pole, in which stator is wound for different winding layers. The analysis accounts for space harmonics and time harmonics that are caused by winding distribution and current distortion respectively. The results obtained from model are validated by finite element analysis and are shown that winding configuration with higher values of subharmonics has more influence on the eddy current loss.
