Abstract
A comparative study of different trial functions based CVP approach for DOP solution is presented in this work. Further, cubic spline interpolation as a trial function with Control Vector Parameterization (CVP) based Dynamic Optimization Problem (DOP) has been attempted in this work. This approach resulted in lesser computational effort to solve the DOP compare to the other trial functions, namely 0th and 1st order ones. A hypothetical fermentation process was used as an application for the dynamic optimization problem. The objective function in this application is to maximize the product concentration by optimizing the substrate flowrates during fedbatch time.
