The present disclosure relates to a transparent electrode and a process for its preparation. The transparent electrode comprises tantalum (Ta) doped titanium dioxide (TiO2) deposited on a substrate. The transparent electrode is useful in maximizing energy harvesting and performance of optoelectronic devices. The transparent electrode exhibits enhanced visible transparency and also enhanced near infrared transparency compared to conventionally known transparent electrodes. Further, the process of the present disclosure is efficient.
