The present disclosure relates to a process for asymmetric synthesis of (S)-paraconic acid. The process of the present disclosure requires comparatively less process steps, with comparatively higher yield of (S)-paraconic acid. (S)-paraconic acid is an useful intermediate for the preparation of various bioactive molecules such as IM-2, SCB2 and A-factor.
