Abstract
Increasing concern about global warming, advancement in solar technology and liberalization in government policies to generate clean and green energy makes the potential rise of solar Photovoltaic (SPV) installations. This paper focuses on analyzing the performance of a low voltage distribution network with total 500 kWp distributed SPV penetration at Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGN).The impact of SPV on the 11 kV, 3-phase, 3-wire underground secondary distribution network at IITGN has been investigated considering the seasonal and diurnal variation of load demand and SPV generation. The study utilizes the quasistatic distribution power flow (DPF) algorithm with 15 minutes resolution load demand and generation data set at the distribution substations. Simulation results for summer and winter seasons are presented to assess the impact of SPV generation in active distribution network.
