Abstract
Analysis done using a prototype or through simulation beforehand often provides a better insight about the tasks that need to be performed on an actual system. Depending on the results obtained through simulation, it is sometimes predictable of how the field work is to be carried out. Considering it to be a constructive approach, this paper includes the simulation results for the fault analysis in a transformer winding. The study is in the preliminary stage of estimating the driving point impedance from the equivalent circuit of a transformer winding using frequency response analysis from which circuit reconstruction and detection of position and extent of fault can be analyzed.
